Narrative

Archetypes

“Narrative imagining — story — is the fundamental instrument of thought.  Rational capacities depend upon it.  It is our chief means of looking into the future, or predicting, of planning, and of explaining.”

Mark Turner – cognitive scientist, linguist, and author.

Tragedy, The Quest, Voyage and Return – these three plot archetypes can be seen at work everywhere, from global news stories to the smallest interaction.

My aim is to represent the narrative archetypes unifying the scene; moving situations of modern life to an oneiric and abstract world.

First, I represented the quest of people who want to reunite with their inner self, with their inner child and forgotten ambitions, to take space and think on the future. Secondly, the tragedy of a human-induced mass extinction of the biodiversity of the world, because of our environmentally destructive actions. Finally, I represented a psychedelic experience, a temporary voyage of induced illusions which ends with the return to reality.
